  • If you are anything like me, you spend a lot of time on your computer. Between online shopping, online banking, sending emails, and playing games, a person could spend their entire day on their computer. Between watching videos, reading news stories, and doing research on things that interest you, the Internet really can be a relaxing place to go.

With the computer being such a central part of my day, I have found the need to guard it from any threats it might encounter. I wrote this article to help give you some of the tips I picked up on while making my PC safe. You'll learn about computer battery backup systems, anti spy ware softwares and even anti virus softwares. You'll learn about the free ways to protect your computer as well as the ways that may cost you some money. Anybody with a computer that needs protecting will find this article to be very valuable.

Firstly, you need to recognize that your computer is an electronic device. It needs to be plugged in so that it can get its power to run properly. Unfortunately, this leaves is vulnerable to power surges and power outages. A surge protector in conjunction with a solid battery backup system will protect against both of these things. With a computer battery backup system, you'll be able to continue safely on your PC even when you have a power outage. It will also protect your computer from any power surges or spikes.

A computer data backup system is another essential item for keeping your PC safe. I would make sure you have an external hard drive to place your critical documents on as well. Just back up your documents whenever you feel you have added something to your computer that you don't want to have to replace.

Once you've got your PC safe guarded against power issues, you'll need to think about guarding it from external threats. While a computer data backup system will protect you from losing data, it will not protect it from being copied and stolen. The answer to protecting yourself from thievery is through an anti virus software.

Avast is hands down the most sophisticated free anti virus program. You can also get the paid version, but I would recommend Norton's protection if you plan on paying money out. A great protection against spy ware is Ad-aware. This program provides you with a free version with the option to buy a more advanced paid one. The free version is so great that you probably don't need the paid one.
