  • There may be so many different ways to write a business letter, but in truth, there are only a few things that you need to remember to write a really effective one, which can catch attention and show them that you really do mean business.

There also are a lot of example business letters that you will find online. It's easy enough to locate them, just type in the key words, and true enough, there will be a bunch of results that will come up for you, ready to be used for whatever purpose it will serve you. However, not all of them will be able to help you get your point across. Make sure that what you will be choosing can serve as a worthy template & guideline so you can make the most out of it.

An effective example business letter should have the following:

    • The heading and date – This is where the return address is located, as well as the date that it was made. One can even include his email address, his office number and fax number.

    • The Inside address – This is where you need to put the name of the person whom the letter is going to be forwarded to, as well as his or her own address. Include the position/title, if there is one.

    • The Formal Salutation – This is where the greeting comes in. It usually starts with “Dear,” Mister/Mrs/Miss, and the last name. If in case you do not know what the name is, you can just put the title instead. However, instead of ending the greeting with a comma, end it with a colon.

    • The Body – This is where the message can be found. You can consider this to be the most important part of the letter. So make sure that you keep it as short, detailed, and as straightforward as possible.

    • The Closing – Whether you choose “Respectfully” or “Sincerely” is up to you. Just remember to follow it with your signature below that, then your name and your title, if applicable.

Be sure that your example business letters contain all these parts, and focus on the honesty and directness of the message. Avoid using hard-to-understand words. Follow these pointers to the letter and your business letter will be most effective.
